A fantastic charity concert "Let There Be Light" took place on April 6, 2024 in Helsinki!
Student musicians of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and the Symphony Orchestra of the Sibelius Academy
Taideyliopiston Sibelius-Akatemia immersed the audience in the world of classical Ukrainian and Finnish music. Together, the young talents performed "Melody" by Miroslav Skoryk, "Let there be light" by Bohdana Frolyak, Jan Sibelius's violin concerto with soloist Elina Vähälä, and the Kalevala suite by Uuno Klami. All funds collected during the concert will be donated to the education of young Ukrainian musicians.
Dalia Stasevska, a world-renowned Finnish conductor of Ukrainian origin, conceived and implemented this vibrant charity project, and led the united orchestra.
President of Finland,
Alexander Stubb, along with the First Lady of Finland, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland, Olga Dibrova, the British Ambassador to Finland, Theresa Bubbear, and the Estonian Ambassador to Finland, Sven Sakkov, also joined the full audience. After the concert, Alexander Stubb, Olga Dibrova, and the guests talked with the performers and congratulated them on their successful performance.
We thank the Dean of the Sibelius Academy, Emilie Gardberg, the Rector of the
University of the Arts Helsinki, Kaarlo Hildén, and the Executive Director of
Musiikkitalo, Emilia Mäki, for their support of the initiative.
