On August 10, 2022, the commemorative plaque to Ukraine was inaugurated on the "Kyiv" square in the city of
Reykjavíkurborg, Iceland. On this occasion, the mayor of the city Mr. Dagur B. Eggertsson and representatives of the "Support for Ukraine" organization visited the event.
According to Mayor Eggertsson, the installation of the commemorative plaque is a symbolic sign of Reykjavik's support for Kyiv and Icelanders' support for Ukraine.
Since the first days of the full-scale war, Iceland has supported Ukraine and Ukrainians, providing significant humanitarian and financial aid.
We express our sincere gratitude for the solidarity, help and support of Ukrainian citizens who found protection from the russian war on the territory of Iceland!
The commemorative plaque installed on "Kyiv" Square was designed by a married couple of artists Óskar Hallgrímsson and Ukrainian Mariyka Lobyntseva.
