During the trip, the Ambassador met with the mayor of the city, Jukka-Pekka Ujula, and the former Ambassador of Finland to Ukraine, Christer Michelsson, with whom she discussed the development of
#UkrFinRegionalCooperation, the provision of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and the participation of Finnish companies in the reconstruction of our country.
Olga Dibrova thanked the mayor of Porvoo for supporting Ukraine: at the end of October, the city allocated 10,000 euros, which will be directed to help Ukraine through the
Suomen Punainen Risti. In 2022, the city already allocated 50,000 euros to help Ukraine and sent medical equipment for a total of 10,000 euros.
Ambassador also visited the activists of the initiative for Ukraine "Porvoo knits - Borgå stickar" at the invitation of Brita Andersson, the author of the project. Every Monday, the women of the city of Porvoo gather together to knit and sew the essentials for newborns in Ukraine.
Very soon, 350 sets for babies, consisting of hand-made clothes and blankets made of natural wool and cotton, will be sent to hospitals in Ukraine through the
EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid.
This is not the first batch of such aid, created with love and warmth - the activists of "Porvoo knits - Borgå stickar" have been working tirelessly since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.
We thank Porvoo and its residents for their initiatives and such sincere support of Ukraine!
