On February 2, 2011 the Ambassador of Ukraine in Finland A. Deshchytsia met with the Director General of the Center for Nuclear Safety in Finland (STUK) Mr. Jukka Laaksonen.
The sides discussed the issues of cooperation between Ukraine and Finland in the field of radiation control. It was noted Finland's contribution to overcoming the consequences of Chornobyl accidence, including financial donation and consulting assistance.
The Finnish and Ukrainian specialists on radiation safety maintain regular contacts and take part in joint international research projects.
The Ambassador A. Deshchytsia informed the Finnish authority on the events are planning to be held in Ukraine dedicated to 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, in particular, the International scientific conference «Twenty-five years of the Chernobyl disaster. Security for the Future» and express his hope for participation of the Finnish nuclear safety experts at the events.
