On February 15, 2011 the Ambassador of Ukraine in Finland A. Deshchytsia met with Director General of the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (TEKES) Mr. V-P.Saarnivaara.

The Ukrainian side was informed about basic functions, structure and objectives of the Agency, which is an important structural element in innovation and technological system in Finland.

Agency provides funding of industry oriented projects in the areas of technology and innovation. TEKES also defines strategic areas and encourages activities of companies to develope this fields.

TEKES is involved in about 700 international European projects, among which there are 63 projects where 12 research institutions from Ukraine take part.

The sides discussed possibilities of collaboration between the Finnish Agency and the State Agency of Ukraine for science, innovation and information as well as issues of updating the legal basis for joint projects in science, technology and innovation fields.
