On April 20, 2011 Ambassador of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia participated in a roundtable on the safe use of nuclear energy organized jointly with the Russian Embassy in Finland.

During his speech the Ambassador of Ukraine briefed those present on the current situation at Chernobyl, topical issues on mitigating the consequences of the Chernobyl accident and the main results of the Summit on nuclear security and Chernobyl Pledging Conference, which took place in Kyiv on April 19, 2011.

During the meeting it was discussed the prospects for the nuclear energy, issues on benefits and challenges associated with nuclear energy as well as the scientific outlook on chain of events in nuclear power stations in Japan.
