On May 16, 2011 Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland A. Deshchytsia met with newly elected MP from the party «True Finns» Yussi Halla-Aho who was recently appointed Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Finnish Parliament.
During the meeting the sides discussed prospects of Ukrainian-Finnish parliamentary cooperation on the bilateral level and within international parliamentary institutions.
It was emphasized the importance of maintaining regular contacts with members of the Finnish Parliament to support the European aspirations of Ukraine.
Ambassador A. Deshchytsia briefed Mr.Y.Halla-Aho on political and economic situation in Ukraine, the Ukrainian-Finnish cooperation and progress of negotiations on concluding an Association Agreement, FTA and visa-free regime between Ukraine and EU.
For his part Mr. Y.Halla-Aho informed about the negotiations on forming a coalition and a new Finnish government following the recent parliamentary elections in Finland in April 2011.
The parties agreed to maintain working contacts and to put efforts to create a group of Ukrainian-Finnish friendship in the Finnish parliament in the short term.
