On 18 November 2025 the advanced Ukrainian military innovations that help deter full-scale Russia’s aggression and inflict significant losses on the enemy were introduced to the members of the Parliament of Finland by Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland Mykhailo Vydoynyk.
Ambassador was accompanied by a delegation of the Ukrainian defence innovation companies and clusters, which arrived in Finland to demonstrate to the Finnish partners the significant innovative and technological experience of Ukraine in repelling almost 4 years’ barbaric Russia’s aggression:
BRAVE 1 – Ukrainian accelerator of modern defence innovations, which is a partner of BRAVETECH EU – a similar initiative in cooperation with the EU,
IRON – a cluster of defence technologies in Lviv,
Ukrainian Council of Defence Industries (UCDI),
Association of Defence Companies “Tech Forces of Ukraine”,
“RAID” unit of the new Unmanned Systems’ Forces of Ukraine, which destroys Russian invaders using advanced drone technologies,
Vyriy – developer of kamikaze drones that destroy Russian occupiers,
DECEMBER 1 – developer of solutions in the field of electromagnetic countermeasures and secure communications,
CHIMERA – developer of tactical secure communications for the Armed Forces of Ukraine,FORTH LAW – developer of the autonomous solutions for robotic systems and drones,
Odd Systems –manufacturer of infra-vision cameras for drones,
DOUBLE TAP INVESTMENT - a Finnish investor in the Ukrainian defence technologies.
During the meeting with Finnish MPs, Ambassador of Ukraine Mykhailo Vydoynyk called for the deepening of cooperation between Ukraine and Finland in the field of modern defence innovations in order to prevent and protect the countries against any provocations from Russia, which poses today a key threat to European security and tries to intimidate European democracies. Such cooperation should strengthen the eastern flank of Europe and NATO and show to the potential aggressor the readiness to repel any attacks and provocations. Members of the Defence Committee of the Finnish Parliament took due note of the solutions and innovations that will become part of further Ukrainian-Finnish cooperation. The Ukrainian delegation also took part in the event “Nordic-Ukraine synergies in frontline innovations” on the sidelines of SLASH conference with the support of the eALLIANCE program of Patria and Business Finland.
Key takeaways:
- The development of innovative defence unmanned systems, secure communications and various electronic countermeasures have become Ukraine's asymmetric response to the aggressor's overwhelming conventional strength;
- Currently, several thousand companies operate in Ukraine in the field of Mil-Tech innovations, many of which have recently grown from startups, that produce thousands of innovative defence products with unique properties;
- The Ukrainian accelerator of modern defence innovations BRAVE 1 has actually become an "Amazon" for units of various types and branches of the armed forces in Ukraine, where "order placement" for certain products is carried out daily with a quick report from the battlefield for possible modifications or system upgrades. Orders are "shipped" within days, maximum weeks;
- A significant part of the solutions and products requires regular updating for if not weeks, then several months;
- Together with the EU, a similar accelerator of defence technologies BRAVETECH EU has been launched with a budget of 100 million euros. Similar agreements already exist with Norway and a number of other states, in particular, using the EU SAFE fund for defence development;
- The use of kamikaze drones and other robotic systems in combination with conventional weapons made it possible to deter the aggressor's offensive and significantly strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian defenders;
- Today, innovative defence clusters, individual companies and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are creating schools for drone pilots and other robotic systems. The Unmanned Systems Forces have been created within the ranks of the Defence Forces of Ukraine;
- The use of artificial intelligence for drone autonomy is gaining active development, in particular in the so-called "last mile" phase, when stable communication with a drone may be lost;
- The massive use of strike and reconnaissance drones in the war has created a significant "gray zone" along the line of contact of the parties' troops up to 20 km wide, where the open movement of personnel and armoured vehicles is almost impossible and doomed to rapid destruction by kamikaze drones. Such a zone will only expand further on;
- Together with Finland, Ukraine will develop technologies of robotic defence systems for a wide application in various natural environments, climatic and weather conditions, as well as their components, communications and autonomous elements;
- The example of the use of marine drone technology in the Black Sea opens up significant opportunities in the Baltic Sea as well.
