In the city of Turku, the collection has ended, the purpose of which is to help its twin city
#Kharkiv, and its residents to survive a difficult winter, caused by the systematic destruction of Ukraine's critical infrastructure by the
#russianaggressor. The action, initiated by the mayor of Turku, Minna Arve, was announced in advance on the official website of the mayor's office in November.
Private companies, public organizations and residents of the region joined the campaign. During December 7-10, everyone cares had the opportunity to deliver equipment to a special collection point for further transportation of electrical and heating equipment to Ukraine.
“With the arrival of winter, Ukraine and Kharkiv face an acute situation in terms of heating and water supply. The City of Turku wants to give a tangible expression of friendship to Kharkiv and Ukraine and to provide material assistance to the people of Kharkiv before Christmas. We will also contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine and Kharkiv by offering our expertise in things like urban planning and sustainable development solutions. Our partners in those efforts include our international urban networks, such as the
#Eurocities network”, says Mayor of Turku,
Minna Arve.
In total, about 7 tons of cargo will be sent to Ukraine: 85 generators of various sizes, app. 160 heaters/warmers (from small to large industrial heaters), other equipment.
