The event was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Pekka Haavisto, and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland, Olga Dibrova.
Minister Haavisto expressed his unconditional support for Ukraine, which will continue as long as necessary.
Ambassador Olga Dibrova told that the Kremlin's army attacks mostly civilian objects, fighting not against the leadership of Ukraine or the military, but against innocent people. The ambassador thanked the Finnish people for "opening their hearts and homes to Ukrainians."
A peaceful demonstration under the slogan #wemustNOTforget started on the steps of the Parliament of Finland and moved to Senate Square.
Well-known figures from Finland also spoke at the event: Member of Parliament Peter Östman, expert on international politics Mika Aaltola, correspondent of the state channel Yle Antti Kuronen, member of parliament Elina Valtonen and others.
A touching concert was held on Senate Square, where Apulanta, Cantores Minores, Ukrainian mothers who were forced to flee the war performed. The National Anthem of Ukraine was sung by seven-year-old Amelia Anisovych, known for her performance of the song from the cartoon "Frozen" in the Kyiv bomb shelter.
