On August 29, 2020 the State Flag of Ukraine was lowered to half-mast at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Finland to honor the memory of the defenders of Ukraine perished in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The Embassy’s staff observed a minute of silence in remembrance of all Ukrainian servicemen and volunteers who died defending Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.
Mykhailo Iunger, Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Finland, addressed the Embassy’s staff, reminding about the tragic events of 2014, when the largest number of Ukrainian soldiers was killed during the Russian-Ukrainian war and Ilovaysk operation.
"Today we remember with deep sorrow and great gratitude all the Defenders of Ukraine who laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of our state in the struggle against the Russian aggressor. We bow our heads to their bravery and heroism. Eternal glory to our Heroes!”.
