Mykhailo Spasov, representative of the Commissioner for Equal Rights and Freedoms, Rights of National Minorities, Political and Religious Views, held a series of meetings in Helsinki, where he represented the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine.
In particular, Mykhailo Spasov addressed the members of the Finnish Parliament and the team of the Parliamentary Ombudsman of Finland Petri Jääskeläinen, where he spoke about the activities of the Ombudsman's Office and the main challenges facing the institution during martial law.
During the visit, the issues of protecting the rights of citizens who suffered as a result of the russian war against Ukraine, in particular the rights of children, military personnel and national minorities, as well as the issue of international cooperation, were discussed.
Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of
#Ukraine, more than 55,000 Ukrainian citizens have applied for temporary protection in
#Finland.
During the meeting, was discussed the problematic issues of Ukrainian migration to Finland, in particular the procedure of transition from the reception centers to the municipal system, which provides an opportunity to receive more social services, and the issue of protecting the rights of children - citizens of Ukraine. In particular, the living conditions of children who are in the territory of Finland without legal representatives and live in a distribution center for minors were checked.
