On August 25, 2022, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Turku Mayor Minna Arve signed an agreement on the establishment of twinning relations.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland Olha Dibrova made a speech at the solemn ceremony of signing the agreement on sisterly relations between Kharkiv and Turku. The ambassador expressed gratitude to Finland for its constant support and called for further struggle against Russian aggression.

The agreement on the establishment of partnership relations was signed within the framework of a special session of the European Forum dedicated to Ukraine. Among the main directions of cooperation are the post-war recovery and reconstruction of the city of Kharkiv, stimulation of the development of entrepreneurship, exchange of experience in the field of local self-government, creation of conditions for the possibility of exchange of schoolchildren, etc.
