On October 23, 2023, a ceremony was held in
#Helsinki under the auspices of the
Sisäministeriö for the transfer of humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the form of special rescue vehicles for units for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine:
Rescue service units from several regions of Finland became donors of special equipment.
The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland Olga Dibrova, Minister of the Interior of Finland Mari Rantanen, Acting Chairman of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchuk, Mayor of Espoo Jukka Mäkelä, as well as representatives of the leadership of the Finnish rescue service.
In her address, Ambassador Olga Dibrova expressed her gratitude to the government of Finland for the help and comprehensive support that Finland has provided to Ukraine since the very beginning of the full-scale russian aggression.
"Finland has proven that it is a true friend and close partner of Ukraine." Ambassador emphasized that Ukraine relies on the continuation of such support, as the war is still ongoing, which is especially acute in the winter period, when russia tries to attack critical infrastructure.
She also drew parallels between russia's modern genocidal war against Ukraine and the Soviet Holodomor of the 1930s and called on Finland to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Minister of the Interior of Finland, for her part, emphasized that supporting Ukraine is a long-term task and will last as long as necessary.
