On April 20, 2022 the Ambassador of Ukraine in Finland Olga Dibrova attended the City of Helsinki’s annual event for ambassadors, hosted by the Helsinki Mayor Juhana Vartiainen.
The reception at the Little Finlandia venue brought together more than 70 representatives of Helsinki-based embassies and other international organisations from nearly 60 countries.
The main topics of this year’s event were European security and defence policy, as well as the war in Ukraine.
Ambassador Olga Dibrova informed the distinguished audience about the current situation in Ukraine, called on to continue providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainian people suffering from Russian military aggression, intensify twinning relationships and work together on Ukraine’s reconstruction projects based on the best practices of European cities.
Mayor Vartiainen and Ukrainian Ambassador Olga Dibrova also discussed how European cities can best help the war-torn cities in Ukraine.
“It goes without saying that the City of Helsinki strongly condemns the Russian-instigated war in Ukraine and, supports the Ukrainians together with the EU. Helsinki and other major Finnish cities have supported Ukraine directly with humanitarian aid. Concern about the situation in Ukraine is shared by all, and international cooperation is of paramount importance in coordinating and delivering the aid,” Mayor Vartiainen said.
During the event, Ambassador Olga Dibrova has also met the Deputy Mayor for Education Nasima Razmyar. Ambassador expressed her sincere gratitude for the valuable city’s support of Ukrainian refugee children by providing them the opportunity to join Finnish kindergartens and schools.
