In the course of the official visit to Finland, President Petro Poroshenko laid flowers to the building of the first diplomatic mission of Ukraine to Finland of 1918-1921 and met with representatives of the Ukrainian local community.

The President emphasized that Finland provided unprecedented support for Ukraine in many directions: sanctions against Russia, visa-free regime with the EU for Ukrainians, ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement etc.

“This is a very powerful format of support for Ukrainians,” he said adding that the President of Finland defends Ukraine’s positions and we are grateful for such solidarity.

The Head of State noted that Finland helped in rehabilitation of heroes-warriors who defend Ukraine.

According to him, this has become possible due to significant efforts of the Ukrainian Diaspora. “Ukraine and Finland wouldn’t have such relations without you,” Petro Poroshenko said and emphasized that the Diaspora had become a powerful factor of influence on the decisions of Governments and Presidents of the countries – international partners of Ukraine.

“This is what cements our global solidarity in these difficult times,” Petro Poroshenko noted.

The Head of State is confident that Ukraine will achieve victory by political and diplomatic means. He informed that Ukraine had submitted disputes against Russia to the UN ICJ regarding the funding of terrorism and violation of human rights in Crimea.
