February 28, 2012 the celebrations dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of the establishing diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Finland were held in Helsinki.
The representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Ukrainian community laid flowers at the memorial plaque on the building, where the first diplomatic mission of Ukraine in Finland worked in 1918-1921.
During the event at the Embassy of Ukraine the Ambassador of Ukraine A.Deschytsya and the General Director of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland N.Vaskunlahti exchanged by the congratulatory letters of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine K.Gryshchenko and his Finnish counterpart E.Tuomioja.
Professor of the Kiev University V.Serhiychuk delivered a key-note on Ukrainian-Finnish relations in 1918-1923 based on his own historical discoveries and documents from the Ukrainian archives.
The event was attended by all five Ambassadors of Finland, who worked in Ukraine for the past two decades. They shared with the audience their personal experiences and memories on their stay in Ukraine.
