On January 18, 2011 the Ambassador of Ukraine in Finland Andrіі Deshchytsia met Director of Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia MFA of Finland Mr. Harri Kämärainen.

Finnish side was informed on the political situation in Ukraine, particular on approval of an Action plan on fulfillment of Ukraine’s commitments to the Council of Europe and adoption of the Law on Access to Public Information.

It was agreed on a schedule of bilateral contacts between Foreign Ministries of both states in the first half of 2011.

With regard to the Finnish Presidency in the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB 8) Mr. H. Kämärainen expressed readiness of the Finnish Foreign Ministry to consider with other countries the possibility to invite Ukraine to NB 8 forums, to be held in Helsinki.

While discussing the priorities of Ukraine on European integration, it was expressed a common belief that the Association Agreement between EU and Ukraine will be signed in 2011.
