On March 12, a friendly march
#MothersForPeace was held in the center of the Finnish capital, organized by Finnish mothers to show support and care for Ukrainian mothers and families suffering from the war.
The demonstration started by the House of the Parliament of Finland, from where the procession passed through the central streets of the city to the Senate Square.
The event was opened by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Finland Olga Dibrova, who spoke about Russia's crimes against civilians, the suffering of Ukrainian mothers and families, the growing number of children killed in Ukraine, the humanitarian crisis caused by the aggressor and called for increased international pressure on Russia.
The Ambassador of Ukraine also thanked the President, the Government, the Parliament of Finland, as well as all the friendly Finnish people for their continued support, solidarity and tangible assistance provided to Ukraine.
The event was also attended by the organizers Reetta Rajala, Johanna Tynkkynen and Susanna Makaroff, representatives of the
Ukrainian Association in Finland, author Laura Lindstedt, Tapiola Choir, journalist Baba Lybeck, band BESS, well-known performers Tommy Lindgren, Andrei, Linda Fredrisson and Jarmo Saari.
The peace action was also supported by non-governmental organizations, including the Finnish Refugee Council, the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, the Peace Union of Finland, the Finnish Peace Committee, the Committee of 100 in Finland and the Union of Conscientious Objectors.
The event was broadcasted on all Finnish central media.
We thank the organizers, all Finnish mothers and all participants of the march for their kind support of the Ukrainian people, mothers, families, who are suffering in these difficult times. Together we will stop the war!
