The tree has a special history: it originates from Ukraine, on the outskirts of Kharkiv, and is one of the rarest trees in Finland. Today there is only one old tree left in Finland, in Kallio, Helsinki. This young tree, which has just been planted in Kuninkaankartanonsaari, was grown in the
Arboretum Mustila from the branches of the latter's Populus Nigra "Charkowiensis".
The seedling was planted jointly by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland Olga Dibrova, the Mayor of Helsinki Juhana Vartiainen, the Deputy Mayor Anna Sinnemaki. The poplar sapling became a symbol of hope for the victory of Ukraine and the establishment of peace in Europe.
We are grateful to the City of Helsinki for the initiative and support of our state and we invite all Ukrainians in Finland to visit the park in Kuninkaakartanonsaari, where a tree has been planted.
