On January 22, 2020 Oleksiy Honcharuk held a meeting with Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin in Davos. This is the first meeting of the two Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Finland in the last 5 years. The previous such meeting took place in March 2015.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine is interested in cooperation with Finland, in particular in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
"Today Ukraine is one of the largest emerging markets, and, therefore, called on the entrepreneurs from Finland to invest in Ukraine. We highly commend the support of Finland in implementing energy-efficient solutions in Ukraine", Oleksiy Honcharuk noted.
During the meeting the parties also tackled expanding cooperation in education sector. Namely, within the framework of the project Finland’s Support to the Ukrainian School Reform, which aims at reforming the school and vocational education in Ukraine. The reform of school education is one of the priority areas in which Finland provides assistance to Ukraine.
"Finland welcomes Ukraine’s determination in reforms, that go hand in hand with EU-cooperation. We firmly support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Minsk agreements should be fully implemented. We had good discussions also on climate change and sustainable energy solutions", Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin stressed.
The Prime Minister also thanked Finland for its unwavering support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty and for its staunch position regarding the sanctions policy against Russia as a result of its armed aggression against Ukraine.
The Head of the Governments exchanged invitations to pay bilateral visits already this spring.
