On May 21, 2022, Ambassador of Ukraine in Finland Olga Dibrova took part in the annual party congress of the Swedish People's Party of Finland (SPP), where much attention was paid to russia's war against Ukraine.
The event was opened with a keynote speech by the Chair of the SPP, Minister of Justice Anna-Maja Henriksson, who expressed admiration for the brave Ukrainian people that have been forced to fight for independence, freedom and democracy.
“The whole world has seen how innocent Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes, give up everything they have built - see their life's work be destroyed and see their loved ones fall victim to brutal, insane violence.
At the same time your president, President Zelenskyy, has day after day, given hope, and in an exceptional way led your country. We are full of admiration for him and all your people”, - said Ms. Anna-Maja Henriksson.
The Chair of the SPP also reminded of the war crimes committed by the russian occupiers in Ukraine:
“Civilians, children, women and men are bombarded and forced to flee their homeland. People are injured and die, especially women and girls are subjected to systematic and terrible sexual violence. This humanitarian catastrophe is the sole responsibility of Russia and Russia alone. The war criminals must be held accountable and punished. Victims of crime and their families need support and help now and in the future”.
On the sidelines of the Congress, Ambassador of Ukraine Olga Dibrova thanked Ms. Anna-Maja Henriksson for her support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people, and discussed ways to bring russia to justice at the international level.
