Iceland remains firm in its support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Ambassador of Iceland to Ukraine Árni Þór Sigurðsson made a corresponding statement during a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yehor Bozhak on March 11. Expressing gratitude for this stance, Yehor Bozhok informed the ambassador about the current security situation in the conflict zone, in particular new cases of escalation on part of Russian troops.
The parties discussed promising directions of deepening of Ukraine-Iceland bilateral cooperation. In particular, the importance of establishing a direct air link between Kyiv and Reykjavik, which would facilitate trade and economic cooperation, tourism and interpersonal exchanges, and cooperation in the field of education and activation of inter-university contacts were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the project to explore the geothermal potential of Ukraine, involving relevant Icelandic experience.
The sides underscored the importance of deepening political dialogue and intensifying interparliamentary cooperation.
