On 3 November 2021 Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland Olga Dibrova met with the Managing Director of NEFCO Mr. Trond Moe, and the Head of the Eastern Europe Department of NEFCO Mr. Ulf Bojö.

The main topics of the meeting were the financial support of NefcoNordic projects in the field of energy-efficiency and energy-saving, as well as further concrete steps to ensure a «green transition» in Ukraine.

Key priorities include raising awareness of regional communities in Ukraine about the available financial instruments of NEFCO and expanding the introduction of modern «green» technologies in Ukraine.

The Northern Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) has been successfully implementing energy-efficiency and energy-saving projects in Ukraine for over 10 years. The main tools of the corporation – the provision of soft loans and entry for a certain period of time in the authorized capital of the enterprise to support its activities.

The main partners of NEFCO are private entrepreneurs who initiate business projects that will have a positive impact on the environment, and municipal institutions that implement projects in the field of energy-efficiency and energy-saving.

Among the recently completed projects: construction of 55 MW solar power plant in the city of Chyhyryn, Cherkasy region; carrying out a set of measures to increase the energy-efficiency of 31 public infrastructure facilities in the city of Lutsk, which allowed to reduce heat and electricity consumption, CO2 emissions, and improve the learning environment for more than 26 thousand children and teachers in the city. In each of these projects, NEFCO provided co-financing in the amount of EUR 5 million of credit funds.

In general, NEFCO is implementing more than 100 projects in Ukraine for a total of about 180 million euros.

Over the years NEFCO has repaired and thermo-modernized in Ukraine a huge number of kindergartens, schools, hospitals, and other public facilities, saving millions of taxpayers hryvnias and significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions, launched a number of new enterprises that have proven their efficiency and high environmental standards.
