On October 29, 2016, the Crimea Day in Helsinki was hosted by the Embassy of Ukraine in Finland, the Association of Ukrainians in Finland with the support of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine. The audience watched the documentary «Crimea. The Resistance» presented by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, about Crimea's illegal occupation by Russia in 2014, and short feature films by young Ukrainian film director of Crimean Tatar origin Nariman Aliev, kindly provided by him. Films produced the significant interest among the guests - diplomats, accredited in Helsinki, representatives of the Finnish society and the Ukrainian community in Finland.
After the movies, a Skype-conference with Mr. Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, was held. The main topics discussed were, in particular, the violation of human rights by illegal occupational authorities in Crimea, as well as the legal instruments to return the Crimea under de-facto control of Ukraine.
During another Skype-conference with the film director Nariman Aliev, he talked about the cultural identity of the Crimean Tatar people and his future creative plans.
