On February 11, 2015 Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Finland A.Olefirov paid a working visit to the international border crossing point between Finland and Russia «Vaalimaa».
During the meeting with Finnish border guards, the special attention was focused on the discussing a wide range of issues of bilateral interaction, in particular, exchange of experience in the state border and crossing points arrangement, usage of surveillance equipment, management of border protection.
Embassy expresses gratitude to the Chief of Border and Coast Guard Division of The Finnish Border Guard, Brigadier General Pasi Kostamovaara and his colleagues for organizing this event.
N.B.: Vaalimaa - the biggest checkpoint on the Finnish-Russian border, which was opened in 1958 and operates 24/7 is located in the Virolahti municipality. Annually more than 2.7 mln. passengers and 2 mln. cars cross the checkpoint.
