On the 13th of November, 2014 Ukraine's President Poroshenko had a phone conversation with President of Finland Sauli Niinisto.
The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Finland for the support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
The parties discussed the results of the UN Security Council emergency meeting on Ukraine, particularly the testimony of the OSCE, the United States, the UK, France, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Australia who confirmed that the worsening of the situation in the Donbas had been caused by Russia's brutal violation of the Minsk agreements. In this context, President Poroshenko expressed deep concern over the mass inflow of troops and heavy armament from Russia. The Ukrainian President called on Finland and the EU to demonstrate unity in the support of Ukraine in the face of external aggression.
President Niinistö highly evaluated the successful holding of parliamentary elections in Ukraine on October 26. He also assured of his complete support to the Minsk agreements as the way to the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbas that is to be observed by all the parties, including Russia.
President Poroshenko urged Finland to ratify the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU as soon as possible. He also invited President Niinistö to make an official visit to Ukraine.
