A meeting with the Ukrainian artists Ms. Mariya Diordichyuk and Mr. Yehor Strelkov was held on the 16th of June, 2014 in the premises of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Finland. This event was organized with the support of the Association of the Ukrainians in Finland (Mr. Denys Pertsev) and Finnish activist Mr. Vladimir Baryshnikov-Kuparinen. This meeting opened the two-day exhibition titled “The Colours of Freedom” in the Embassy's premises, presenting the paintings of Ms. Diordichuk. The exhibition is dedicated to the heroic and tragic event in Ukraine known as the "Revolution of Dignity”. The most of the pictures were painted during the confrontation at the Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti). The artists told about the events on Maidan, their works and plans. They also answered variable questions about the importance of art for creating the national idea, the difficulties of work on Maidan during the fierce confrontation, the situation in the eastern parts of Ukraine etc. The guests paid special attention to the civic stand of the artists, who are travelling all over Europe to spread the truth about the abovementioed “Revolution of Dignity” for their own money without any help or support from sponsors. After presenting their paintings in Helsinki, Mr. Strelkov and Ms. Diordichuk are planning to visit Denmark.
