During the visit, negotiations were held with the Minister of Environment and Climate of Finland Kai Mykkanen.
The visit was aimed at developing Ukrainian-Finnish cooperation in the preparation of the Project to support Ukraine in the assessment of environmental damage as a result of Russia’s aggression as well as the development of water quality and biodiversity monitoring systems.
The Ukrainian delegation studied the experience of the Finnish Environment Institute SYKE, as well as the system of support and administration of national parks on the example of the Nuuksio National Park.
This cooperation takes place in the context of the implementation of point 8 "Environmental safety" of
#PeaceFormula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to assess the damage to the environment of Ukraine as a result of Russia’s aggression and bring the aggressor to justice.
The implementation of point 8 of the Peace Formula is coordinated by the High-Level Working Group on the Environmental Consequences of the War at the Office of the President of Ukraine.
On 9 February at its meeting in Kyiv, the Working Group endorsed an ENVIRONMENTAL COMPACT FOR UKRAINE, which should become the basis for political decisions to fix Russia's crimes against Ukraine's environment, and punish and restore Ukraine's ecology.
